April Ice Storm

We had a interesting April around these parts. We got hit by a large nasty ice storm here in the Midwest. We lost our power on a Tuesday morning and did not get it back till late Friday night.
The kids were off school for 3 days plus the weekend so 5 days off and we were all a bit stir crazy.
It kind of felt like the 1800's around here. Food kept outside in the cold, huddling around the stove in the morning to warm up, cooking by candle light. Joyful times! For me it was but as to the rest of the family they like there modern comforts a little to well!

Year of Change

Wow! It sure has been a while!
I wanted to blog a few times over the past year but could never figure out how to start..... So if this post is a bit of a mess please forgive me.

It's been a really long roller coaster of a year.

In my last post(s) I had mentioned a house guest... This house guess was my father. My father and I have never gotten along. In fact I had moved out when I was only 13. It has been a very rocky road between the two of us. Anyway, He was down on his luck and I had asked him to stay with us for a couple of weeks while he got back on his feet. A couple of weeks turned into a month and then another month etc with no real end in site.  I finally had had enough and told him to leave. He took the first trucking job he could get and left town. The last thanksgiving that I posted he came back and did nothing but complain about my family. We had a huge blow up and he took off again.  The week before Christmas we received a call from a sheriff half way across the country saying that my father had a heart attack and didn't make it. This all came the night before my great aunts funeral.

So the Holidays of 2011 were not that good.

January 2012 started off a whole lot better. My long time boyfriend and I finally tied the knot! We planned it and got married in less then 10 days! Why rush a 10 day notice when we had been together for almost 10 years? Timing, Timing was everything! We had been considering Aug. but found out his mother was getting ready to move to Hawaii and she and the rest of the family was gonna come visit us before the big move!  To us the day did not matter it was having the family around us that mattered most! With everyone scattered around the country it was not going to be easy getting everyone together again in one place. So we took the opportunity and did it!  For our 3 year anniversary we are going to Hawaii to renew our vows on the beach!

As for the general things in life, I have been keeping myself busy. I joined our local policy council for Early Childhood Education within our school district. It's a subdivision of our school board that only pertains to Children ages 3 to the start of Kindergarten. You can find out more about this program on the right side of the blog. I was the secretary for the first year and now I'm just a council member. Our youngest spent 3 years in this program before she started kindergarten this last fall.

I also joined the Transportation committee for our school district. We work with the bus company to maintain busing policy and keep costs in check. I have also joined a few smaller programs to keep myself busy. To busy sometimes!

Grandpa is doing well, he is 80 now. Our oldest graduated this past spring and is getting ready to move out on her own. The youngest started Kindergarten and is in her 4th year of playing violin. The boy (middle child) has been having problems sleeping at night and he is always tired. We had him tested for thyroid issues and a couple of other things. Yesterday, the day after Christmas, he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. We are hoping that this will help with all the snoring and sleep issues.

As you can see there really has not been a whole lot to talk about. A few really bad things, a couple of good and a bunch of drawn out boring stuff.

I  "hope" to get back to blogging and designing things. I'm not making any promises. I have not designed a thing in over a year now.  The only layout's I have done in the last year have been of the wedding. Once you break the habit of blogging it's really easy to say, "I'll do it another day" and then never do it. Blogger has even had some big changes in the last year! I had a heck of a time even getting into my blog. For the last couple of months I have been locked out.

At this point all freebie links are down. I don't know if I will reset them or just start a new. Most likely I'll just do new stuff and let the old go. Sometimes you just have to wash your hands of things and move on.

Long Time No Post

Howdy Everyone!

I hope everyone had a Very Happy Thanksgiving!

I know it's been a long time since I last posted, a very long time actually. Sorry for the disappearance act. The summer was totally crazy and this fall we had a house guest that put a real crimp in things for a couple of months. Drama and chaos!

Thank you to all of you who have stuck around and have been checking on me. I do miss the scrapbooking community and the friends I have made here on the blog. You folks all rock! I do plan on making a return, I have some templates that I have been working on and a few mini kits. I need to make previews and proof things before I can release them. Both are things I do not like doing and defiantly slow me down releasing things.

As soon as I get the credits in order I will start sharing some layouts that I did over the summer and see if we can't get back into the swing of things around here!

See you all soon!

Busy Busy...
Oh the last week has been a busy one and I'm paying for it today. Oh how I ach all over! First off the little one was off from school all week so we were busy doing all sorts of things. Her teacher stopped by for a home visit and explained rainbow crayons to us. So we made some! really easy to do. If any one would like to know how just say the word! On Wednesday I saw some signs up for the neighbor hood rummage so I decided to throw one together last minute and spent Thursday setting up. Also on Thursday night I surprised grandpa with a new TV. Well new to him. I bought it off a friend of mine dirt cheap. Picked it up and delivered it to grandpa Thursday night. We discovered that it is larger then is old one and was really wobbly on his tv stand. So I told grandpa about the entertainment center that my friend had used for the tv and was also selling. I called him and set it up for Saturday to show it to grandpa. We had the garage sale on Friday and got rained out on Saturday. We didn't do to bad considering I never put signs out or did any advertising.  I only packed two boxes up to save for the next sale. I cleaned everything up and returned grandpa's garage to him on Saturday afternoon. When the rain took a break I took grandpa over to my friends house and he bought the entertainment center. My friend and I loaded it, then I had the oldest help me move it into grandpa's place and get the tv all set up again. Crazy busy couple of days and my feet and back are definitly screaming at me today. I'm so not used to being/standing on concrete so much. Dirt and grass is so much softer! I have a couple of contracts lined up for later in the month for my landscaping. Looking forward to those. Also need to build a deck and fence at grandpa's and install the new gutters on our place.  The weatherman says rain for the next 10 days so we will see how much I get done. I also need to get cranking on my tax's, I have everyone's done but my own!

How's it going folks? Not to bad I hope! Been busy as always around here. Weather has been up and down so much it's like a yo-yo! But hey that's spring I guess!  I hope it settles down soon we need to get the garage cleaned up so we can have a Rummage sale. Planning one for early May and then another a couple of weeks before the actual move. With combining two households there are tons of duplicate things that we won't be needing. Do we really need 4 George Foreman grills? or three coffee pots? Or how about three sets of living room furniture! Lot's of things have got to go!
Also, one of our long term tenants has resigned a new contract. Lease to Own! He has been there long enough that we have the confidence in him to full fill the contract and take care of the place with us not being around. We also have a showing today of another one of our properties.  Cross your fingers, Please!

Template #277 ~ Freebie

Morning Everyone.
I hope this past week was a good one for you all. It was a stressful and emotional one for us. First off our home owners association has rules on dogs. 18 inches or under. Last Thursday the president of the home owners thingy came pounding on the door demanding to see the dog. She measured at 18 inches but I was told the dog goes or we go! He said we lied and that we were hiding the dog. NOT! How is it hiding a dog when the kids take her for walks around the neighborhood and such? Everyone knew we had her.
When the oldest found out she flipped out on me. She had herself so worked up over it she literally made herself sick. She attempted -------  last year and I'm definitely worried how she is handling things. She refuses to talk about it and when I talked to her counselor she couldn't get her to talk about it either.  She has us all very worried.  The boy seems to be in a state of shock over it.

So last night we took Sadie over to Grandpa's house and he is going to keep her for a while, until we get things sorted out. Sadie cried as much as the kids and I did when we left to come home. I called him later in the evening to see how it was going and she could hear me on the phone. She crawled up in his lap and licked the phone! I was going to go visit her and walk her today but the little one has a fever and is staying home from school. Friday or Saturday night I think the kids and I will spend the night at grandpa's, if everyone is feeling ok that is. Don't want to get Grandpa sick. He has had a really good winter in that aspect.

Now your all wondering what are we going to do to resolve all this? Right?

It's time to reach out and go after the dream!
We are moving! Out of town and out of state! AND Grandpa is coming with us! Sadie and Missey (Grandpa's cat) will be joining us too!

I've always wanted to see the mountains out my window and have some horses. Step one, the mountain view! After that I'm sure it will be a few years to save up to get land and horses, but we will be that much closer!

Nothing is gonna happen real fast. We have to sell our home, grandpa's house and 4 rental property's first!
We talked to the kids last night about how they would feel leaving there friends behind and they were very supportive about the move. They also understand the only family we have here is Grandpa and since he is coming with us there really is no reason to stay here. Where we are moving has most of the family! Moving will also put Grandpa closer to my Dad and Aunt. So hopefully they will visit him more often. He has not seen his Daughter (my aunt) in 5 or 6 years! They talk on the phone a few times a year but that's it.

We are selling everything that is not a necessity so that we can move a bit lighter! 6 people and two homes is a lot of stuff and a lot of junk that's not needed. If all goes well we should be moved and semi settled before school starts this fall. We will notify our tenants this week about the sales and give them the option to buy or at least be ready for a new landlord! I am so looking forward to the move but not the prep work!

Today I have another layout to share with you.

It don't get any fresher then this!

Template #276 ~ Freebie

Morning All.
What a crazy busy week the last week has been. Last Monday we got an ice storm and I spent 3 days chipping Ice off sidewalks and driveways for clients. Followed by snow that I had to remove for those same clients. I think they were getting tired of seeing me as much as they were fed up with the weather! Last Thursday the boyfriend got a call to upgrade  a computer system for a small business here in town.  They wanted it done by the opening of business yesterday. Very short notice but I helped out and at 2 am Monday morning we were completely done and they opened at 8am with no issues. Success!
Here it is March first and I'm already dreaming of another vacation! I havn't even dived into to tax season yet, I should of started that the first of Feburary! I am so looking forward to April 15th. Not only will tax season be behind us but so will winter! Warm weather is just a short while away yet but it can't get here soon enough for me!
I also discovered a new favorite drink this past week. White caramel chocolate cappuccino! yummy! So much for keeping the sugar out of the diet! I had also been slowly weaning myself off the caffeine but this past week all of that went right out the window!

Anyway, I do have another "Book" Template for you today. Remember these are only available until I post the next book template.

Howdy Everyone!
That's about as cheerful as it gets today. I've had a relapse and have been really sick again. The fever finally broke last night and things have been slow but good today so hopefully over the next couple of days I'll get back on par. Crossing my fingers!
I have another layout and template for you this evening. The photo was taken out on cousin Shem's boat in Hawaii.

Templates #273 and #274 ~ Freebie

Morning Folks,
Hope your week has started off on a good note. I had intended on getting these posted earlyer but I've been taken out by a bad sinus infection. On the mend now thankfully, I hate not feeling well. The kids have the next 6 days off from school, hope I don't have to bang any heads together!  Actually it shouldn't be to bad. It did warm up to the 40's this past saturday and has pretty much stayed there. Maybe that's why I got sick, running around with no coat on and the windows open! Actually I have the window next to me open as I type this! Even with the warm weather we still have 7 or 8 inches of snow on the ground. So it's a muddy mess but I can still send the kids and dog out to play with out freezing so I'll deal with the mud just to get them out of the house for a while at some point. That's what the shower is for right?!

Anyway I do Have a couple of layouts to share with you that go along with todays Freebie Templates.
The first one is another Hawaii one. The cousins and a few friends canoed, kayaked, and paddled a small boat out to the Mokulua Islands. The larger Island of the two has a relatively nice beach to enjoy if you can get to it. The waves come around the two islands and crash together making it treacherous for the novice. The photo is taken on the Mokulua beach looking back at Oahu Island.

Template #272 ~ Freebie

Good Afternoon Everyone!
This week has been more of the same weather wise. COLD! This 20 to 30 below zero is getting real old, real quick! But there is good news in the forecast, 40's by this weekend! I'll believe it when it happens, with 40+ inches of snow on the ground it's gonna take some effort to get that warm. I am so wanting spring to get here so I can open all the windows and doors and let that wonderful fresh air in again! It's not the snow that bothers me, it's the ice and cold that get me. That is one thing I loved about Hawaii, having all the windows wide open! Falling asleep listening to all the night sounds. Where we stayed was in an agriculture(farming) area so the nights were very calm and peaceful almost like camping it was so quiet.

Anyway, I do have another Hawaii layout to share with you all today. This one is of one of the cousins that live there. Shem took us out for a sunset sail on his sailboat which you will see later in other layouts. But while we were sailing he sang his favorite song for us.

Template # 271 ~ Freebie

Evening Everyone!
So how's your weekend going? Mine well, we took the dog to the vet this morning and had it confirmed, she has a hernia and needs surgery. After that we headed to Walmart then on to Mc Donald's for breakfast. We were back home and started on the laundry by 9 am! Saturday is cleaning day so each of the kids tackled there chores and then pitched in to clean up the living room. By eleven it was snowing and snowing hard, the big wet heavy flakes! Shoveled the drive way twice today so far. This afternoon it was warm enough and I was working just enough that when I shoveled, no coat was necessary. If I had worn it I would have been sweating my hiney off!

Tonight I have another layout from our Hawaii trip for you all to enjoy.
It's one of my favorites at the moment!

 Evening Everyone!
Wow what a week it has been! COLD! So cold they canceled school yesterday. Woke up Wednesday to -20 with wind chills of -40. Today we hit a high of 20 above! A tropical heat wave compared to yesterday.
I've spent most of the week bouncing back and forth between entertaining kids, scrapping and organizing tax's.

Freebie Templates 268 and 269

Good Morning!

The first couple of days home were spent doing laundry and reading. I had bought the final Harry Potter book to read on the plane but never got around to more then a couple of chapters on the way home so I finished it up and got it out of my system. The little one spent the first two days home not feeling well. A bit of jet lag and a small fever kept her home from school.
Then this week I have been super busy working on Layouts! I have around 30 so far from our trip that are in various stages of completion. Those should start showing up here on the blog over the weekend or very early next week.

Yesterday I chaperoned my son's 5th grade class on a field trip to the Kirby Science and Discovery Center. We went rock climbing and Hang gliding and all sorts of fun stuff. I even saw my first ever IMax film. That was totally kick butt!

After we returned from that I headed over to the little ones classroom and spent the remainder of the day with them doing room parent stuff and I gave a 30 min talk about Hawaii and showed them a ton of pictures. The little one showed off her shells she collected at the beach and her hula skirt! At the end I gave each of the children there own postcard I made with a photo I took of Pearl Harbor.

It has been an absolutely crazy month! I'm so glad you all hung in there with me!
Thank You!

Does anyone know of a really good Military or Navy style kit that I could use to scrap my Pearl Harbor Photos? That's holding me up on those layouts. I have hunted through half a dozen stores for one. I found some totally awesome ones that I broke down and bought for all the beach and boat pictures, but nothing yet for the Pearl Pictures. Help Please!

I will be working on the p365 templates today, Saturday you should be able to download any that you have missed. Tonight we have bowling league for the oldest and the boy has a snowboarding lesson. Should be another long crazy Friday!

Home Again...

Pearl Harbor
A very emotional day.

the view from 35,000 feet
This view struck me more then being on the rim.

The sun setting as we were making our final descent tonight coming home.
It was the perfect way to end our trip.
Better then what welcomed us on the ground. Snow! It was light then but it's been picking up steady all night. Anyone mind if I hop a plane and go back?! lol

I'll be getting to those broken p365 links in the next couple of days. If you all could remind me which ones they were it would help speed up the process instead of picking through the couple hundred emails I need to sort out.

Update

Howdy Everyone!

I know I 'm not posting like usual and I know I said I would but it has been an absolutely crazy month so far.

First we had a death in the family (boyfriends cousin). Five years ago the doctors gave her a year to live (brain tumor). She did not let it get her down and she traveled the world helping others on mission trips. But the last 2-3 months she went down hill very fast. In the end it was best that she let go. She was only 24.

This coming Wednesday morning, I will be catching a flight out of this fridge *bleep* and heading out for a week in paradise. 3,793 miles and 13 hours later I will be landing in HAWAII!!!!! Yep a week in Hawaii! Oh I can not wait, I'm literally bouncing off the walls! I'm completely packed and the suitcase is already by the door and I still have two more days to wait. grr. The two older kids and the dog will be staying with grandpa. Thanks Grandpa! You totally rock!

The youngest and I will be the ones heading out. My boyfriend is already there, he flew out for the funeral. But because of the kids I stayed home and will only join him for the last week of the trip. Too much for Grandpa to deal with for a two week stretch. A week he can do but 2 is pushing the limits. The school is giving the youngest full credit for school and treating this trip like a giant field trip! We will be visiting Pearl Harbor and going to the Polynesian Cultural Center. We will also be going kayaking and taking a ride on a small catamaran amongst other things. Hopefully when I get back I will also have a personal surprise to share with you!

Anyone got any ideas on how to entertain a 4 year old for a 13 hour flight? Any suggestions are welcome! That's the only part that has me some what apprehensive. We are taking the personal DVD player but it only plays 1 movie per charge. So any ideas would be a great help!

In scrapping news I have been working on a new kit for you all inspired by the three blizzards we had here in December. Of course I'm calling it "Blizzard"! I had planned on getting that out to you this month, but right now with everything going on and packing and such I just don't have the ability to sit and concentrate on finishing it. When I get back that's the plan though to finish it up and get it out to you.

Also instead of doing P365 in the standard way, I'm going to do monthly review templates for you. I promise the first one of those to you by the end of the month. I'd like to release each months review template about the third week of each month. I also have some template packs in the works.

Thank you to everyone who has left comments. Those of you who have had issues with a few of the p365 templates, I will try and get them working before I fly the coop but if not, i will get to them asap when I get home. I know I said I was gonna pull them down at the end of the month but since we are having issues with a few and my time table over the next two weeks is crunched I will leave them up for a few extra weeks so we can make sure that those of you who want them can get them.

Well that's about it for now. I feel like I'm bouncing all over the place. I'm just a ball of nervous excitement! Oh how I wish Wednesday would get here!

Until next time....

Ski Lesson

Evening all!
I actually did a layout tonight!
The boy had his first ski lesson tonight. I spent the evening standing at the bottom of the bunny slope freezing my hiney off and snapping pictures like crazy! I wasn't the only mom out there freezing, there were dads with camera's too! He absolutely loved it and is already asking when we are going again. He will have lessons every Friday evening until the end of the season! So while the oldest is bowling the boy will be Skiing. Now just to find something for the four year old to do out side of playing Violin at school. Did you know all 3 kids play the violin in there school orchestras this year? Last year the boy played the Cello. The oldest will get her "Letter" this year for Orchestra. I really wish our Ski place offered more deals. I would like to get both girls on the slopes also but right now it's a special deal for 5th grade students only. 5th grade Fridays.
Shh don't tell the boy but I think he is gonna get new snow pants for Christmas. He put his on tonight for skiing and they were skin tight! Wow did he grow this past year!
Winters Spell Kit by Flowerscraps (She has a fantastic kit she is giving away this week called Christmas Joy. Check it out, I know you'll love it!)

I've had suggestions for box.net and also to stay with 4Shared. Keep the ideas coming!
Personally I'd like one that you can leave comments on, but it's not a necessity. I like the comments, I look forward to reading them and they keep me inspired! It's amazing how 1 short comment can spin off into a kit some times.
Help me help you! Let me know what you like, what your looking for. Do you need a template with a certain number of photo or journaling spots? Circles, Squares, rectangles, you name it!
I want to design and be creative again, I'm itching for it! But I don't know where to start! Any and all suggestions are welcome, just remember your manners :D
Are any of you interested in the above layout as a Template?

Until next time...

P365 Templates Are Finally Here!

Howdy every one!
I know it's been a while, well, most of the month that I have been missing in action. I have to admit it's been do to my depression kicking my butt. I had a couple of really really bad weeks there but now things are starting to turn around, I think.
I'm posting last weeks this weeks and next weeks P365 templates for you. I'm gonna take the rest of the month off and work and feeling better and getting back to a better place. I will see you all in the new year, I hope you stick this out with me. If my hopes for the new year come true you will all be pleasantly surprised.

In the mean time can you guys give me your input as to what hosting site(s) you would prefer I use next year. 4 shared has been having a lot of issues lately and media fire well..... nothing good to say so I won't say anything on that one.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
