Year of Change

Wow! It sure has been a while!
I wanted to blog a few times over the past year but could never figure out how to start..... So if this post is a bit of a mess please forgive me.

It's been a really long roller coaster of a year.

In my last post(s) I had mentioned a house guest... This house guess was my father. My father and I have never gotten along. In fact I had moved out when I was only 13. It has been a very rocky road between the two of us. Anyway, He was down on his luck and I had asked him to stay with us for a couple of weeks while he got back on his feet. A couple of weeks turned into a month and then another month etc with no real end in site.  I finally had had enough and told him to leave. He took the first trucking job he could get and left town. The last thanksgiving that I posted he came back and did nothing but complain about my family. We had a huge blow up and he took off again.  The week before Christmas we received a call from a sheriff half way across the country saying that my father had a heart attack and didn't make it. This all came the night before my great aunts funeral.

So the Holidays of 2011 were not that good.

January 2012 started off a whole lot better. My long time boyfriend and I finally tied the knot! We planned it and got married in less then 10 days! Why rush a 10 day notice when we had been together for almost 10 years? Timing, Timing was everything! We had been considering Aug. but found out his mother was getting ready to move to Hawaii and she and the rest of the family was gonna come visit us before the big move!  To us the day did not matter it was having the family around us that mattered most! With everyone scattered around the country it was not going to be easy getting everyone together again in one place. So we took the opportunity and did it!  For our 3 year anniversary we are going to Hawaii to renew our vows on the beach!

As for the general things in life, I have been keeping myself busy. I joined our local policy council for Early Childhood Education within our school district. It's a subdivision of our school board that only pertains to Children ages 3 to the start of Kindergarten. You can find out more about this program on the right side of the blog. I was the secretary for the first year and now I'm just a council member. Our youngest spent 3 years in this program before she started kindergarten this last fall.

I also joined the Transportation committee for our school district. We work with the bus company to maintain busing policy and keep costs in check. I have also joined a few smaller programs to keep myself busy. To busy sometimes!

Grandpa is doing well, he is 80 now. Our oldest graduated this past spring and is getting ready to move out on her own. The youngest started Kindergarten and is in her 4th year of playing violin. The boy (middle child) has been having problems sleeping at night and he is always tired. We had him tested for thyroid issues and a couple of other things. Yesterday, the day after Christmas, he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. We are hoping that this will help with all the snoring and sleep issues.

As you can see there really has not been a whole lot to talk about. A few really bad things, a couple of good and a bunch of drawn out boring stuff.

I  "hope" to get back to blogging and designing things. I'm not making any promises. I have not designed a thing in over a year now.  The only layout's I have done in the last year have been of the wedding. Once you break the habit of blogging it's really easy to say, "I'll do it another day" and then never do it. Blogger has even had some big changes in the last year! I had a heck of a time even getting into my blog. For the last couple of months I have been locked out.

At this point all freebie links are down. I don't know if I will reset them or just start a new. Most likely I'll just do new stuff and let the old go. Sometimes you just have to wash your hands of things and move on.
