Hits Grab Bag Reveal

Hi All!
Hope none of you are having to deal with the storm that is hitting the upper Midwest.
We got clipped by the edge of the storm and got stuck with freezing rain and wind. Man is it Howling outside!

I'm going to apologize now for how long this post is going to be and how "dumb" some of my questions may be.

I would really appreciate some help. You don't have to answer all of them, only what your willing to share. Thanks in advance!

1) What programs use the png's?

2) If I use the 'same size' picture or element more then once do I need to make the png for it more then once?

I know the program thing has nothing to do with my ability to make png's I just would like to fully understand the what's and whys. Makes things easier to do when you understand why you are doing it.

3) Can anyone give me some good advice or information about Mac's? I've debated about getting one, but all I know is that they're good for graphics. I could Google it but I would rather hear from some people that run Mac's and know what there talking about from experience. I don't know what else they can do? Is there any software that is compatible between windows and mac at all? When it comes to the macs I feel like I have never touched a computer before!

I know so little about them that I really don't even know what to ask about them.

Ok so that was more then one question in number 3!

Any advice or information you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated! I'm all ears!

Now for tonight's freebie.
I have decided to reveal the Hits Grab Bag for the last 24 hours or so of availability so you can see what your getting!

Click the preview to download the 100,000 Hits Grab Bag if you have not done so yet!

Until next time...

First of all thanks for all your great temps. I love them.
1) I open png's in Photoshop or paint shop pro.
2) If the picture or element is exactly the same you should be able to get by with just one.
3) Sorry about this one... I really don't know... the only time I have worked with a MAC is in school for some web design classes. Now I have a friend that is a Graphic Designer and she would swear by it ... I can tell you that they are ALOT different than a Windows PC so I got p**sed off real easy...LOL. I do know the software is different between windows and MAC. :(
I hope this helps and the answers are what you were looking for.

I got a iMac this past summer after only using a PC and I can't say enough good about it. I have 2 pieces of advice: 1. I highly encourage you to visit an Apple store. They can answer every single question you have and they are happy to do so. They even have inexpensive "classes" you can take (at your convenience) on whatever you want or need. 2. If you do get one or even just play with one, be patient with yourself. There are general similarities, but there are differences that can frustrate when you've only used one type of computer (basically by not know where something is located). After you get acquainted, you'll love it and wish you got it sooner. :) Again - go to the store. They love to show people all that iMacs can do! You'll be amazed.

By the way, I'm a newbie digiscrapper, and I love and appreciate your blog. Thanks!

Oh - and I used Photoshop Elements on my PC and now on my iMac. They work the same, but on the iMac the photo storage system is far better.

Please keep us posted. :)

I can vouch for the Mac. The new iMac Desktop computers are awesome. I have never had a virus in 19 years. I also have Vista running on my Mac just so I could try some PC applications. I rarely use it though.

I use Photoshop which is pretty much the same as the PC version. Word 2008 for the Mac is superior to Word on the PC. All the iapps that Apple puts out are great, iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD etc. I am 70 years old and have never had a lesson - the Macs are quite intuitive in my opinion. If I can't figure something out I just go to the Help menu and my answer is there. Or if I want more in depth explanations one can always Google the question. There are great sites for Mac users.

I have not had a hard drive fail or a computer crash that destroyed data in all these years. I have had a computer freeze a few times (although not in the last couple of years) but didn't lose any data. I really think they are the most stable computers on the market and they last for years and years. I still have an old SE30 that is at least 20 years old and it can still be used. Great for letting little ones play with Word Processing. I paid more for that SE30 than I would pay for an iMac today!

As someone aboe suggested, find an Apple dealer and they will show you all the ins and outs of the Mac. I know it wouldn't take you long to become a fan. May seem strange at first, but believe me it is more logical than running Vista!
