And now for the long awaited (winded) update.

I officially burned myself out on Scrapping and have only just begun to get back into it with the 3 Lo's you saw above. You see, right after Thanksgiving I sat and made 125 Brag book pages all in less then a week for Christmas presents! So all my creative juices were spent! Thats it on the scrapping side of things.

On the family side, we have been busy, busy. The weeks leading up to christmas were busy shopping. We received 6 inches of snow on the first and then it was dry until Christmas morning. We opened all the curtains to fresh snow falling! Oh it was so pretty! Every year I wish for a light dusting of snow for Christmas. Living in the city the snow always turns yucky black from all the streets. This is the first year since being a child that I can remember snow on Christmas and we got 5 inches of the fluffy white stuff! The kids have been out playing in it every day since!

My Dad made it home for Christmas this year he has not been home in over a year so the last time he saw the little one she was only 6 weeks old. I think he was more leary of her then she was of him.

As for not blogging about things earlyer, I have been struck with an abcessed tooth. The one side of my face swelled up so bad it looked like I'd been in a boxing match. But I'm on the mend now with the swelling gone and almost back to normal. So I hope in the next few days I will be back to blogging and scrapping again.

Till Next Time....

Challenge LO and Snow?

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and had there fill of turkey! We're still eating turkey here. Lol! But I personally love turkey sandwiches!
We were gonna leave on Thursday but since family from out of state was coming early we decided to head out early too and spend the extra day with the family(Wed). There was also going to be other cousins for the kids to play and hang out with, So we decided to splurge and get the hotel with the pool and water slide! We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Loved the hotel and the water slide, but that pool was COLD! The hotel also had a very nice "kiddie" pool.

Which leads me to the LO I wanted to share with you today. This is my last LO for the challenges over at Happy Scrapz this month. It is for the Grab Bag Challenge.

If you have not been by Sindiego's blog lately you should cruise on over and check it out. Boy has she been busy! She has a gorgeous kit called "Give Thanks" up and some members of her CT have been busy making QP's! 12x12's , 8.5x11's and Brag books! These brag book pages are awesome! Since I'm doing Brag books for Christmas this year these are gonna help me get them done and printed in time for shipping!

Snow?

Did I hear our weather man correctly? We are finally supposed to get our first true snow this weekend! Yippee! We had a dusting on thanksgiving that made our green grass look white for about 30 min. But this is supposed to be "plowable" snow according to the weather guy. Ohh I can't wait! It's finally gonna start to look and feel like Christmas! I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas. We are going to put up the tree and decorations this weekend so the snow will be perfect timing.

Well we're off to pick out a new snow shovel and to do some more Christmas shopping, have a great day everyone!

Crazy

What a crazy weekend it was! First my son had his first basket ball game on Saturday morning. Which they won 14-12 Way to go Nuggets! Then the oldest had her bowling. When all this settled down and the older two had gone to great grandpas for the night I decided to drive to one of our neiboring towns to visit with some relatives and see the new bull dog puppy that was born the day before.

24 hours old

Then on the way home on the interstate my transmission in my car decided to cut out. I had our 13 month old with me so that turned into a big barrel of monkeys. I managed to limp the car off the interstate and on to a parrelling highway that still brought me back home but with only first and second gear it was a slow limp home. Sunday I spent reserching the possible problems and solutions and on Monday I spent a large part of the day under the car working on the transmission. Yep thats right I even work on my own vehicals. I managed to get third gear back so it will be ok for around town. But it's defanitly time to replace it. This is not the first time I've had issues with the transmission and back in June I hit a large piece of steal on the interstate that tore the pan open on the transmission. So who's to say that it was not damaged then. Besides all that first gear has slipped off and on ever since I got the car 7 years ago.

Now that I have vented, lets get to some LO's that I have done these past couple of days.

First off is one of my sons cat "Ashes" using the Happy Scrapz Kit Wind of Change.

Our relatives cat. She passed away about a week after this picture was taked.

And last but not least I took a trip down memory lane last night about my Grandmather who passed away in 1997. While I was on this much needed trip I put together the following LO. It is just one of the Happy things I remember about her. She was born in 1932 and was struck with polio as a child. She had a natural gift with nature and loved all animals great and small. Even though her favorite rabbit would eat her favorite flowers all she ever did was shake her head and smile knowing it made her rabbit happy.

The kit used is Sindiego's new kit Floral Delight. If you haven't checked out her site you should! I think she averages a new full size kit every week! You work hard girl if you ever need anything just let me know! Fonts used are : MS Sans Serif and Old English

You can find all of Sindiego's beautiful kits on her blog at Sindiego Scrap's.

Anyone know how to get the spacing to stay put when you publish? All these big gaps are not in supposed to be in here.

Challenge LO

First off I'd like to thank everyone for stopping by. You have no idea how much I appreciate reading all the wonderful comments that you have left for me.

I would also like to take this time and show you my entry in the surprise challenge over at Happy Scrapz. The challenge is how many pictures can you put in a LO.

Remember Sindiego has her slide show tribute running so there's still time to get those LO's in! And if you don't have time to scrap, grab up some of the QP"s that are also there. And if that's not enough, Sindiego is also giving out a new kit all at the same time! I have no idea how she does it all! So head on over and pay tribute to your favorite soldier past or present. Please remember to leave her some love. She is a wonderful lady who works way to hard!

Have a great weekend!

Dog tags Freebie

Wow! Sorry I have not been much on the bloogin the last few days. The little one and I have both been sick. But during the last few days I have also kept myself pretty busy. In the last week alone I have done 10 LO's and made a full set of 12 QP's! But a little more on that later.

But in the mean time I have a little freebie for you all! I made this while I was working on a couple of the LO's you will see here. So you could say the LO's inspired it.

The two LO's you see today were both made using Sindiego's Lest We Forget USA Kit. If you haven't checked it out I suggest you run on over to her blog and do so! She is also running a tribute to all our military service people, past and present.

Angie was my best friend all through high school and Mandy was a good friend of ours that was 2 years behind us and went to a different school. When we weren't in school, we were always together. Since the towers fell and we 'went to war' I have not seen either one of them. I get updates from time to time from their parents. Although I miss them both, I am very proud of them.

And since you hung in there with me here is your freebie.
The dog tag freebie can also be seen in use in the above layout.

Please leave a comment if you download. I do read each of them and they are very much appreciated!

Fabulous Friday

What makes it fabulous you ask?
It's Friday!

Actually I have fallen into a bit of a slump. Like I said inspiration seems to come and go in a hurry. No new Lo's to share, but I will share one I did a couple of weeks ago using my Party Time freebie. In this LO I also used Sindiego's Froggin kit. The Font is Wishbone.

Have a great day everyone, and remember to Smile! Smiles are contagious and if you smile at just one person think of all the people that will be affected by that one simple random act of kindness.

Questions and Layouts

I don't know what gets in to me. I seem to do LO's in spurts. The last couple of days I have been scrapping like mad. The whole month of October I scrapped at most 8 LO's. This month I have already past that number and it's only the 7th!

This first one is for the Happy Scrapz Template challenge this month. Jessica did a lovely job making this simple but dramatic template. I also used the "Winds of Change" kit by Jessica and Amy. Font is JI Beast.

I over layed two of the papers to get the BG paper that I used. However when I made this the little papers had a bit more shadowing to them to try and make them look a bit more folded where the stitches go through. For some reason when I merge layers I lose some of my shadowing. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to this?

My second LO of the day uses Tracy Drane's Template "Moving Day". I love this template! I have used it in many LO's, it is so versatile! I also used Amy Cheeseman's kit "Evening out" and the font is Turtles.

The next two are of our youngest the most willing subject I have for pictures. hehe

First off is a mix of designers. I like doing this but keeping credits straight can be a challenge at times.

Not much going on here today we all have the sniffles and sneezes. So the little one and I are doing some scrapping and taking it easy today. Since there's nothing new, we will just get to the LO's!
The first is for the Font Challenge at Happy Scraps, using there incentive kit " Winds of Change". The Challenge font is Gubben I L and the other font is Hassel.

This second one is for
Sindiego's Scraps Butterfly Challenge. Such a simple challenge and such beautiful butterflies! I can't wait to get mine!

Bulldogs, Pugs and Freebie

What a weekend! Hope everyone had a good one I know we did! We went to the Texas Road House instead of the Outback. We both agreed it was the best steak we have found around here. 12 oz. med-rare ribeye, loaded baked potato, house salid and all the fresh dinner rolls you can eat! We will definitely be going back! We also rented a movie only to find out that our dvd player decided not to work. So we cuddled up and watched tv instead. It was really strange not having any of the kids around, it was almost too quite! But Sunday the mayhem continued! We picked up the older two and headed to Beresford for a BBQ and to pick up the little one. Jim and Mona have 5 dogs currently so the kids had a blast running around with them most of the afternoon. The little one preferred their cat.

Here are a few Lo's I did using the Happy Scrapz incentive kit for October "Winds of Change" by Amy Watson and Jessica Gorney. These two lady's rock! Fonts used are Child's Play and Freak.

Emma will be coming home to stay with us (on a trial bases) shortly after Thanksgiving.

I also have part two of "Charlette" for you

Charlette Mini Kit & LO

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a good week and that all the little ones got all the candy and treats they could eat. My oldest decided she was to old to trick or treat but she still dressed up and took her younger brother out while I stayed home with the little one and answered the door for all the little spooks and goblins.

I don't have much to say today, My back is bothering me from helping the guys the last two days, we poured new sidewalks at two of our properties and are putting the finishing touches on the one so the new tenant can move in next week. This morning while the little one napped I sat down and finished the last Challenge for the month at Happy Scraps.

LO and Freebie part 2

First off today I have a LO for the surprise challenge over at a Happy Scrapz. This month it was to use a holloween or fall kit(s) and scrap something not about fall or Halloween. When I found this picture of my Fiance with the yellow gold backgrounds it reminded me of how he complains about his Birthday being so close to Halloween that every birthday party as a kid seemed to be Halloween themed. (This is probably not true but you now how our memory is about when we were kids. if it was good it was great if it was bad it was horrible) lol!

And now since you've made it this far, is Part 2 of "Whale Watching". The first download was the papers. This one has 2 frames, 5 ribbons, 4 buttons 3 birds and a couple of other items. You can download part 2, Here. The 3rd part will contain a few more frames and a couple of surprises! That will come in a couple of days. Have a great weekend everyone! Were off to Bowling!!

4shared is being really slow right now so I will get the download link working as soon as we get back from bowling, be back later.

Whale Watching Freebie

Sorry it has taken so long. :( The little one came down sick on her birthday. She enjoyed her cupcake but didn't care to play with her gifts or balloons. We also had her 1 year shots on that first monday so last week she was not a happy camper. She spent most of the week curled up in my lap not feeling so good. But now we are back on the mend so I am trying to get caught up on a couple of projects that I had to delay and now the rain has kicked in so here is part one of my newest kit "Whale Watching". Hope you enjoy!

More on the pictures and new kit on a later date. What a tease, I know. hehe I'm feeling much better except my ears are still pluged. ugg. Anyway this is my LO for the surprise challenge this month.

"Googleye" LO's

Good morning everyone! What a beautiful day it is! Makes me want to get out and do things, but unfortuanitly I awoke this morning feeling even worse. But enough about that.

I did a couple of LO's last night using Dereks "Googleye kit" and a couple of Sir Scrapalots templates. I was so wrapped up in this Halloween that I totally spaced the pictures from last Halloween!

The first one uses Sir. Scrapalot's year round bragbook template #1 and the second one uses his small and big template. The font on the first one is "Heather"

Well that's it for now, I'm off to try and sneak a nap in while the kids are all watching a movie. Don't forget about the naming of the kit if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them!

Later's all

P.S. Am I missing a setting somewhere? I can't figure out how to get the LO"s to open bigger in a new window when you click on them.......

Preview

Here is the Preview of the kit I told you about in the last post. Please let me know what you think, and If anyone has any ideas for a name I'd love to hear them! I would like to offer this as a freebie in the near future.

The Good, the Bad, and some Questions

The good news is that Grandpa came home from the hospital last tuesday afternoon but the bad news is I promptly got sick on wednesday! I have not been feeling the best for close to a month now. what started out as alergies has now turned into a nasty head/chest cold that i just can't shake.

So I have been in a bit of a slump. I have lost my inspiration to scrap LO's and I have not been taking the usually pictures. My camera is normally glued to my side, but in the last 2 weeks I have snapped a whole 10 pictures. This is so not me! I hope I get to feeling better soon.

But since I've been so sluggish I have been practicing how to make things in photoshop. Such as handmade bows and ribbons. I have been working on a kit in grey and Mauve colors. I love the colors but I'm not sure of my ability in making some of the elements. I will try and get a preveiw of it up this evening. If anyone has any ideas for a name for the kit please leaave a comment I would love to here from you! I will be offering the kit as a freebie this coming week sometime. Since this will be my first freebie kit I could use some advise on packaging it up for 4shared and about the terms of use. I have not written a TOU yet. So if anyone would be willing to give me some advice I would appreciate it greatly.

Also SirScrapalot has the second set of his year round bragbook pages up for grabs and Derek has more of his "Cast Iron" up for grabs.

Have a great weekend end everybody I will be back with that preview for you all this evening!

week of worry

My grandfather who is 75 had major surgery yesterday. Since my fiance is sick with the flu I did not have anyone to watch the kids for me so I had to wait at home during the surgery but the doctors and nurses were calling me at home and treating me just like they would have, had I been sitting in the waiting room at the hospital all day. The surgeon even called when it was over to let me know how it went. I can't thank them enough for dueing that for me. The doctors say he can possibly go home on Sunday if all continues to go well.

So after the little one and I ran our errands this morning. we took a quick trip up to check in on him at the hospital. Nothing the doctors could of said could of prepared me. They are still trying to get his pain under control, so he was really out of it on the morphine. He could hardly open his eyes. We where there for just a few minutes just before noon. He did say that today has been the longest day ever. And it was only noon, I can only imagine what he is going through. I managed to keep it together in the room when I was talking to him but as soon as I left I fell apart.

Some of you may be wondering why I'm so upset, well you see, My grandfather raised me, he is my best friend, we talk 2-3 times a day on the phone, some times more. We see each other 3-5 times a week and if either of us needs any thing the other is always there to help.

First Freebie

After reading the forums about the template challenge over at Happy Scrapz I decided to try and make my own star dust thing to replace the the one in the template. Thank you Jessica for your explaination as to why it is not available for use. :) Mine is not great but I think it does the job. It resizes nicely and is in greyscale so I flood a new layer above it with color and use the clipping mask feature. So here it is in use on my LO for the September Template challenge at Happy Scrapz.

Magical Monday

This morning has been like a fairy tail to me. My little one decided that it was more fun to play by herself then it was to play with me! For 3 hours she played happily by herself in the living room. Needless to say it looks like a tornado hit but she had a blast! While she was playing I managed to get dishes and the laundry done. I even got to scrub the bathroom floor! I know this don't sound like much to some of you, but for me this is great! She normally has to have some sitting on the floor with her while she plays. However at one point I had to go looking for her since I left the baby gate open so she could find me. Instead I had to find her! When I found her she was sitting on the floor in her older sisters room reading books! Boy does she love books! I hope that stays with her as she grows older.

I did manage to do a LO last night and this morning while checking some sites I found Sir Scrapalot made a 4 page bragbook set out of Pillowgirls "Bed Time Kit". I just love them! I'm doing bragbooks for Christmas presents this year so I will be using these for sure! And when I found Pillowgirls "Bed Time Mini Kit" last night I just had to sit down and scrap with it.

Busy Busy

Busy Busy and all I want to do is go back to bed! I'm so tired I'm dragging! This past week I helped my fiance finish a project that had to be done or else! This morning bowling league started for my oldest and this afternoon we are building a new deck. As soon as the little one wakes from her nap we will be going out to help with the deck. Then this evening I believe we are going to a friends place for a BBQ. Now my phone is ringing for the 4th time since I started this post so I will end here and hopefully get an LO done to share.

TGIF!

It's been a rainy week here, but the clouds finally broke today! So we finally got out and about to do our weekly errands. With so much rain I had lots of time to do some LO's. The two I"ll post tonight are the last 2 for this months challenges at Happy Scrapz. What size do you Lady's and Gents save in for uploading to the web? Like do you reduce size/quality or do you upload the original? or am i even making sense? LOL Please forgive me, I am new to all this blogging and sharing. I even took a chance on stepping out of my little hole by posting a LO over at Stone Accents Studio for there Heritage challenge for this month. I had everything going and was uploading my LO when all of a sudden I got an error on the page. It said it upload correctly but I can't find it at all over there. I looked around for some info about it over there but no luck. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it greatly. but for now I'll just stay in my little hole, I was second guessing myself about posting anywhere but here since I'm not real comfortable with my own skills at scrapping yet. I see so many beautiful LO's that put mine to shame, I only wish I could create like all those great designers and scrappers out there. Thank you all for all the wonderful Inspiration and for sharing your work with me.

Now on to the LO"s..

The surprise challenge

Journaling reads:

Our family emigrated here from Germany
And spent many years living around the New York area.
Once the Dakota Territories were opened for settlement we packed up and headed west to be amongst the first settlers here.
That original claim is still in our family. Although it has changed alot and had it’s ups and down through the years, it has always been a source of pride to me. I hope that when the day comes I will be granted the opportunity to carry on with the Family Farm and in keeping our pioneering heritage alive for the next generations to enjoy.

Around the edge:

My Great Grandfather Phillip the 4th passed away a few years before I was born but he has always been a great inspiration to me. He may not have been the original claim filer, (his great grandfather) Philip the 1st was. But it was his stubborn as a mule attitude with a heart of gold that turned that small farm into what it is today. It was ruff raising a family on a farm in the 1930’s and raising a daughter that had been inflected with polio at an early age. That daughter would later become my grandmother.

Around the edge Journaling reads:

You love to performe for the camera so much so that you can be in the middle of a screaming fit and as soon as you see me get the camera you stop and start laying on the charm (or tears when necassary). Today your horse was your prop of choice. You love to make people laugh and the harder we laugh at you the harder you laugh!

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog! It took awhile but I finally have it going now! Now much really going on here. The kids started back to school yesterday. It was so dark and rainy it was hard to get them motivated and out the door. And now I'm trying to work out a new schedule for the little one and I. But since the little one is napping I will share 2 LO's I did last night of the first day of school. Both of them ride the bus and refuse to let me come to school or the bus stop anymore to take pictures so all I was allowed (haha) to take was in our drive way and as they walked away. The bus stop is at the end of our street so they don't walk far.

The Kit is one of my few attempts at creating.I call it "Warm N Fuzzy"

Font: dang I'm drawing a blank, I want to say it is Times New Roman all gussed up with bevels and embossing, but I'll look thru my notes and see if I can't turn it up.

But since you made it all the way throu this post I'll leave you with a preveiw of the kit I made. I liked it when I started it but the more I look at it the more I don't like it now, ummm
