Template #213

Good Morning Everyone!
Sorry everyone this should have been up last night for ya all. But as you know life takes precedence at times. On an up note I was up bright and early at 5am and now have a bed full of clean laundry that needs to be sorted, folded and put away!
The little one had her doctors appointment yesterday afternoon. At a week shy of her 3rd birthday she is 38 pounds and 39 inches tall! AS for her developmental milestones she is ahead of the game and has mastered everything a 4 year old can do minus the writing part.
We also took our truck into the shop to have a few things taken care of and looked at. The boyfriend thought the breaks were shot I argued that they needed to be adjusted and to have it looked at for an oil leak. Turns out the breaks just needed adjusting and there was no oil leak but they did find a radiator leak! So instead of new breaks we did a new radiator and had them put the new tires on. My MIL 's boyfriend gave my boyfriend his old tires and rims. They are in really great shape so I don't really understand why he needed new ones. But I'm sure most of you know about men and there toys!
All we have left to do is put new tires on the van and get my old car running again for the teenager to take over. ACK!
*
Anyway here is a Lo I did awhile back for my dear friend Simona. This one is of her boyfriends cat Schizzo. He is quite the character and loves to dig up the flower pots! So the journaling on the little tag "il giardinere" is Italian for "the Gardner".

Double Template #47

Evening all,
Man am I glad it's the weekend! It has been a long dreary week full of bad news.
Sunday, we ran out of gas. Monday the in laws had the huge bird come through their windshield. Tuesday night Grandma (my mother in laws mother, 90+ years) took a bad fall and had to go to the hospital. Monday before all the rest of the family left for home they looked into assisted living centers and all sorts of options to keep her in her home and semi independent. But Tuesdays fall and yet another on Thursday. The decisions that had to be made, were made today. My mother in law is coming from Colorado on the 9th of October and we will pack up grandma and move her two hours north of us and in with one of her daughters who works with in the nursing home industry. When she can no longer work with grandma we will have to place her at that point into a nursing home. The "Sisters" are also going to talk to her Doctor about maybe putting Grandma on oxygen to try and help with her breathing and dizzy spells. If we can get the dizzy spells under control and stop the falls resulting from it she can move into an assisted living center, but the rules are if you fall twice they move you to a nursing home. She does not want to go to a nursing home. But is willing to accept the assisted living center idea.

In other news my friend Michele is down with a bug of some sort this week and has been completely out of it. But before she got sick she managed to send over a couple of layouts for us. Stop by Michele's blog and check out her fabulous new blog background! It's perfect for fall! And while your there how about leaving her a little get well wish? I know she would appreciate it. ;)

Project 365 Week 39

Howdy everyone!
Can you believe it is Wednesday already? Not me, I'm still trying to get caught up on all the laundry from the trip! Every time I think I'm close to being done someone takes a shower and fills the hamper back up again! It's a never ending story!
*
The in laws finally made it home Tuesday afternoon after there bird meets windshield adventure (Mondays Post). But they did the same thing we did and ran out of gas just a few miles from home. What is it with men? They think the red line means there is still a reserve tank! That may be true with our jet skies but not with the the trucks!
*****
Michele sent in this wonderful double layout. I really like the reversal of the papers here.

I also have another layout of our trip for you tonight.
Oh my! The shadow for the title is horrible! I swear my psd version does not look like that! Gonna have to go back and tone that down some! Well darn it, all the shadows are exaggerated for some reason!

Template # 212

Hi All!
I'm Back!
Oh what a weekend! There is nothing like spending time with family!
We arrived Thursday evening in time to join everyone at the casino for dinner. After dinner we meet up at the campground and sat around the campfire catching up on what's been going on with everyone. Amazing how much happens in 3 short months since the last time we were all together. Friday was a day spent hanging out on the beach, swimming and riding the jet skies. The boy even decided he wanted to learn and was doing very well. So well we let him go on his own and he had a blast! The oldest still won't have anything to do with them. Friday night after the kids had gone to bed it was party time! We put the drinking log on the fire and partied all night. Well a few made it all night I made it till 5 am. Saturday was not a good day for me. I actually had my very first hang over. Nasty, nasty, I do not ever want to repeat that! A couple of beers every few months is one thing but shots of vodka, no way, no how, not ever again. I have no idea how people can do that to them selves over and over. Yuck! Point taken, Lesson learned!
I ended up sleeping most of the day away. However I did feel well enough to enjoy the steak dinner Saturday night! Saturday night we called it an early night so we could be up at a decent time and see everyone as much as possible before it was time for us to leave. Sunday dawned windy as all get out. We had left our jet skies in the water all weekend and were forced to ride them in the 2 foot waves. Now that don't sound so bad if your on a sit down but a single person stand up is a lot harder to balance and control in wind and waves. The main river channel had 4 foot waves rolling on it. I opted to let our nephew ride and I drove the truck and trailer around to the dock. Once I saw the dock it was stress time for me! I had to back that short little trailer down a ramp longer and steeper then I had ever done before. But I did it on the first try! I went very slow with an audience all watching my every move. Yep the ramp was busy with people all wanting to get there boats out of the water in that wind. I had a sign on me that said
" look out inexperienced trailer backer upper!"
On the way home we ran out of gas just a mile and a half from home. Thankfully we had extra in the trailer storage box and were on our way again in just a few minutes. The down side is that the in laws were on there way home today when a Turkey Vulcher that was scavenging on the side of the road came right through the windshield of there pickup! Thankfully everyone is OK. They are spending the night in a little bitty town in the middle of Nebraska while the glue on the new windshield cures so they can drive the rest of the way back to Colorado on Tuesday.
***
Tonight I have a bunch of layouts to share with you all. These first two are comparisons of what the bays along the river looked like in 2005 during the severe drought and now when the "Mighty Mo" is back to her true form, the way it was when I was a child. The Missouri River holds a lot of my childhood memories. You will see that in a few more layouts that I will share later in the week.

Template #211

Hi All!
So how was your weekend? Mine must not have been to bad cause I can't remember for the life of me what we did! I know I finished a kit, almost finished another and then started another new one late last night! I do know that the release date for "Afternoon Delight" is October 1st. The other ones I'm not sure of yet. So keep your eyes open for those new things!
Oh I remember what I did on Saturday, I transferred all my level 50 characters to the brand new server in DAoC. I guess between working on the Kits and playing DAoC (also known as Camelot), that was pretty much my weekend.
*
Today we were all up and out of the house by 7 am. I needed to run some errands before I dropped our van off at the local Ford dealership. Yep I finally got the steering issues fixed! Ford is not my first choice but my family mechanic is still in, in patient rehabilitation after his motorcycle accident last May. He may never open his shop again or run his farm. Very sad deal there, all I can say is PLEASE WEAR A HELMET!
*
We picked up the van after dinner tonight. Still has some steering issues, but it is at least 75% better then it was. Instead of making a 90 degree right turn when ever you let go of the steering wheel it now only makes a lane change! Yippie! I can deal with that! But the front tires are so bad from the steering being out of whack that we need new tires, so here's hoping that, that will solve the rest of the issues.
*
I also thought I was done canning tomatoes for the year. But Grandpa surprised me and brought over another bushel of them! I'm thinking that this year the in laws (who's garden failed this year) will be getting home canned tomatoes for part of there Christmas gift. Think I'm also going to do small calenders about the size of a 5x7 as gifts. I found a local Mom and Pop print shop that will print and bind them for me for a steal.
Dang when I sat down to post I had no clue what to blog about!
Now it's turned in to blaa blaa blaa.

The Wooden Bowl

The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember the tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, A year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the table.
But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and
failing sight made eating difficult...peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.
When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about father,' said the son.
'I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner.
There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.
Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone.
Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor.
He asked the child sweetly, 'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy responded,
'Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.'

The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table.
For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason,
neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.
I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four things:
A rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.
I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a 'life..'
I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back sometimes.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you.
But, if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others,
Your work and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Double Template #45

Remembering 9/11
(layout by me)
****
So how is everyone tonight? Are you glad it's the weekend?
I know I am!
We had another very busy day today.
Started off with taking the truck in to get the muffler replaced. No more "Harley loud" as the little one says. We also ran a bunch of errands and picked up some odds and ends at walmart(damn walmart). After a late lunch we had to go pick up the truck and stopped to rent a couple of Xbox 360 games. We made it back home about 15 minutes before the boy did from school. Tonight while I was preparing dinner I also prepped everything for tomorrow night's dinner.
Now the reason I'm so late at posting.... I canned tomatoes again after dinner tonight and just finally got to sit down! We have enough to last all winter and I must say I am sick of the smell! Now that the weather has cooled off they will ripen a lot slower.

Messages:
Michele- Thank you so much for resending me those files!

Simona- Welcome home girl! Can't wait to hear all about your cruise!

In scrapping news....

Should I try a new one?

Project 365 Week 37

Welcome Everyone!
Wow has it been a long but productive day! What makes it so long is that I have been up since midnight! I fell asleep on the couch after dinner last night and woke up at midnight, no luck in going back to sleep. I finally got around to sanding and staining the new arm piece for the glider rocker. I got all the peppers dealt with and stored for the winter. Tomorrow I will have to can tomatoes again! I also managed to get the dishes and laundry both done. I even managed to start a couple of new kits this afternoon while the little took a nap. Then this evening I took all three kids shopping. Both of the older two needed jeans. Found two pair for the oldest but nothing for the boy. He is the hard one to shop for now a days! If I can find things to fit his waist then there waaaaaayy to long! I mean like a foot or more! Oh well it was just one store, we will try again at another and another till we find something. Even managed to pick up a cute top and some sleep pants for the little one. She will be three next month but is already wearing a size 6x!
****
Hurray!
We have our first layouts of the month tonight!

Template #210

Howdy!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The weather was great for BBQ's here. Could not have asked for better! It promised to be a jam packed weekend and it proved to be very full.
So full that I still have not gotten around to making the Double Template September Gift for the month. Yes the Double Template won the poll! But not by much!
*
The last couple of days have been so busy that I have barely managed to get any of my programs installed on this new machine. Yep I'm using the new one! 7 months was a long wait on the old slow beast that for now will be given back to the kids. However my boyfriend is also building a new computer and the oldest of the three computers he has now will be going to the kids, making the one that I had been using obsolete! Well not completely obsolete. I was able to run my MMORPG on it and photoshop, ect, so it is still a good machine just a bit slower then I like. We are also going to be getting rid of / selling one of our laptops. We just don't need 3! So the Dell is up for sale.
*
The one bad thing about formatting my computers, is I always lock my self out of the websites I need to log into. You know the blog, 4 shared, my email! Yep I locked myself out of my email yet again. I must stop using the auto sign in's and actually remember the darn passwords!
So if you have sent me an email you now know why I haven't gotten back to you. I will though I swear! We also need some layouts for this month! We didn't have any as of Friday night anyway.
*
But in the mean time I do have a couple of cute puppy pictures to share from Sunday the pups will be 5 weeks on Tuesday! They are so cute! The one I showed you a couple of weeks ago when they were only 10 days old is the pup in the middle on the first picture and in the second he is on the left. He has already found his forever home but the other two are still looking for there new parents. one boy and one girl. The girl is the one with the darkest colored spots, she is smaller then the boys and very independent compared to them.

Double Template #44

I finally got to buy the parts to build my new computer today!!
I'm in the process of formatting it now and tomorrow I will install all my lovely programs. Can't wait to be able to run my big CAD programs again. My landscaping has drastically suffered with out the Cad this summer. Clients love having it all digitalized in front of them.
We are also attending a BBQ out of town on Sunday and on Monday we are having our own BBQ. Grandpa will be joining us along with a few of our friends and neighbors.
It's a jam packed weekend already and it has just begun!
Have a Happy and Safe Labor Day Weekend and I'll see you all back here Monday night on my new machine. Can't wait, see you then!

Project 365 Week 36

Hi There!
Welcome to September and my blog!
*
Hope your having a good week, someone has to be and I know it's not me!
I'm still fuming over the days events. Let's just say that reservations made for later this month were messed up and booked for last month. We are now out of a chunk of cash and a place to stay! Two weeks to find a new place to stay and every thing we have checked so far is booked full.
*
As to how school is going so far:
*
The boy constantly forgets to bring his homework home. By the time he gets home on the bus, we load up and drive back up to the school to get it, it's closed and locked up for the day.
*
The oldest, So many missing assignments already they have moved her to a guided study hall in stead of open study. (they get rewarded for turning things in on time, why should they get rewarded for doing what is expected of everyone? I asked the school this and all they gave me was the run around on it.)
*
The boyfriend, well Monday his external hard drive for school failed. Spent most of Monday looking fora new one. He still has a lot of catch up to do over this weekend. Everything he had done so far this semester was lost. He now has to redo all of the labs for his security class and Fedora class. Why all of this is such a pain in the butt is way to in depth to go into here.
*
As for me: My first student loan payment is due this month! Yippie! NOT!
*
The little one is begging to go to school.
All I can tell her is that she has to stop using diapers before she can go to school. It's not the #1 that is holding her up but the #2. she absolutely refuses to use the potty for that.
*
Alright, Enough ranting about school, pee, poop and other peoples typos!
You are all really here for the scrapping and the freebies!
I really wish I had a layout to share tonight, especially since I have made your eyes bleed with all the ranting, you really deserve to see something nice and pretty. You always leave me such nice comments! Thank you!
